Microsoft has opted to use its own version of a Linux OS instead of Windows 10 to drive its new Azure Sphere solution for securely connecting IoT devices. Microsoft introduced Azure Sphere earlier this week at the RSA security conference in San Francisco. Azure Sphere is a platform that connects microcontroller units, or MCUs, embedded in cloud-connected devices. The platform operates a new cross-over class of MCUs that incorporate real-time and application processors with built-in Microsoft security technology and connectivity.
